FWAA Advocacy

For over five decades, FWAA has built relationships with key government officials, working to prevent excessive regulations that affect the multifamily industry.

Empowering Success in the Multifamily Industry

Since 1967, the Fort Worth Apartment Association (FWAA) has been dedicated to supporting the multifamily housing industry through award-winning professional education programs, strong public advocacy initiatives, and a diverse range of business-to-business networking opportunities. FWAA is committed to helping members achieve greater success through these resources and effective communication platforms.

FWAA has been a pioneer in the multifamily industry, creating groundbreaking programs such as the Business Exchange, Leadership Lyceum, and the innovative Maintenance Mania judging software. These initiatives, developed right here at FWAA, have set industry standards and continue to provide invaluable resources for members. For over five decades, FWAA has proudly served multifamily investors, owners, and their teams, continuing its legacy of leadership and innovation within the industry.

Local Advocacy

FWAA represents over 1,800 members and more than 270,000 units across a diverse nine-county region in north-central Texas, including Tarrant, Jack, Wise, Palo Pinto, Parker, Erath, Hood, Somervell, and Johnson counties. With 104 municipalities, 61 school districts, six college systems, and six special impact districts within these counties, FWAA is dedicated to advocating for and supporting its members in every corner of the region. Whether in large urban centers or smaller communities, FWAA remains committed to ensuring that all members benefit from comprehensive advocacy and resources tailored to their needs.

FWAA Policy Issues

Affordability

Strong communities depend on having quality housing that people can afford. The cost of providing rental housing—including municipal fees, property taxes, insurance and regulatory expenses—ultimately affects the cost of housing. FWAA supports thoughtful policies that reduce unnecessary costs, encourage investment in rental housing and help keep homes attainable for the people and families who call our communities home.

Property Owner Rights

Healthy rental communities depend on a fair balance between the rights of residents and the rights of those who provide and maintain their homes. FWAA supports reasonable laws and ordinances that protect legitimate public interests while respecting private property rights and allowing housing providers to responsibly operate, maintain and manage their properties.

Eviction

We recognize the importance of providing safe and attainable housing in our communities. A fair and consistent eviction process protects both residents and housing providers while helping preserve the long-term stability of rental housing. Unpaid rent and property damage can create significant financial burdens for property owners, particularly small businesses. FWAA supports consistent application of the state’s existing eviction process and opposes local policies that unnecessarily delay or restrict a property owner’s ability to regain possession of a property.
